Core Teams

"Core Teams" is not a term that you will hear in many Churches, although the work that each core team performs will be found in most Churches. A Core Team at Carnmoney is a small team that has been given the authority and budget to carry out some aspect of our Mission. Although the Core Team itself may be small, many more people from the Congregation are actively involved in the day-to-day work of the team.

We currently have 6 Core Teams:

Mission Core Team

The Mission Core Team is responsible for all our Community, Outreach and Overseas Mission work. This includes organising and running our Alpha courses, the Helping Hands food hampers and our links with partner organisations like 174 Trust, and overseas Churches in Kenya, Cambodia and Croatia. As you might imagine this is a large undertaking and so the work of this Core Team is further split into a number of teams.

Pastoral Care Core Team

The Pastoral Care Core Team are responsible for Organising and running all our work that supports people in need in our Congregation and the local area. This includes ministering to the sick at home and in hospital, counselling and comforting people at times of grief and crisis in their lives and praying with people as they face their daily challenges. The team also offers other practical help such as transportation of people to and from medical appointments and the provision of meals for people who are unable to cook for themselves for any number of reasons.

Worship Core Team

The Worship Core Team is charged with leading our Congregation into a more intimate experience of God in our public worship and is responsible for the preparation of the Sunday Services, the training and provision of musicians to support the Services and the staffing and coordination of the audio-visual assets of the Church that are used during worship. The Team is also responsible for our 24-hour prayer house - i56.

Discipleship Core Team

The Discipleship Core Team is tasked with identifying and developing ways in which our Congregation can grow deeper in their faith in Jesus Christ. This includes hosting training courses and workshops, and the support of our Pastorates groups which meet fortnightly in a number of houses across Newtownabbey.

Resources Core Team

Formerly known as the Congregational Committee, this team provides support, financial assistance and resources to the other Core teams. The team is split into a number of sub-teams which are headed by a Convenor. Details of the individual subteams and their areas of responsibility are available here.

Youth & Children Core Team

This team is responsible for developing and coordinating the work of the various clubs and organisations that we run and in developing strategies that will help our young people learn about God. This includes traditional organisations such as the BB and GB, and outreach events such as Youth Alpha.
